Reforming the Education System to Produce Qualified Personnel in the Transport Sector

 
Agent Plus takes part in the round table “Education in the Transport Sector”
The founder and General Director of the Agent Plus Group, Mr Zoran Netković, also President of the Transport Sector of the Serbian Association of Employers, attended the round table “Education in the Transport Sector” on 18 May. The event was held to address the introduction of an education-system reform aimed at reducing the shortage of skilled personnel in this industry, and was also attended by representatives of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the Interior, the Road Traffic Safety Agency, the Institute for the Improvement of Education, the Academy of Applied Studies, the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering of the University of Belgrade, the Association of Secondary Transport Schools, the Railway Technical School, the CPC training centre for professional drivers, the Association of Driving Schools, as well as other members of the Employers’ Association of the transport sector, who hosted the gathering.
The lack of education in the transport sector is becoming an ever-greater business challenge, one of exceptional importance for the stability of the transport industry, the quality of services and the competitiveness of the economy, as well as for the safety of traffic and of the users of transport services. Introducing a comprehensive reform would build an institutional framework that would provide young people with quality education and employment in suitable positions. Establishing a well-structured, functional education system would enable not only quality training but also appropriate professional practice aligned with the needs of the economy.
For the reform to be successfully implemented at national level, it is of exceptional importance to establish synergistic cooperation between educational institutions and employers, so that young people become acquainted with sought-after occupations through the organisation of practical training and the monitoring of technological change in the economy.
The round table also discussed the significant role of the National Employment Service (NES) in this process, which should become a more active initiator in monitoring and analysing the labour market and in offering constructive proposals for the education of young people in the transport sector. It was proposed that the NES expand its employment measures, as well as its budget allocations, in order to connect employers and young people without experience more effectively.
Recognising the importance of developing professional personnel, in recent years the Agent Plus Group has been actively motivating students in the final years of undergraduate and master’s studies by presenting its business and recruiting candidates at university fairs, taking part in youth employment incentive programmes, and providing regular training for employees, making its group skilled and ready for every challenge.
