NEW NAVIGATION CHARTS OF THE DANUBE AND SAVA PUBLISHED
The Directorate for Waterways, Plovput Belgrade, published new navigation charts of the Danube and the Sava at the end of last year.
New electronic navigation charts (ENC) for the River Danube
They have been published in the “Inland ECDIS” standard 2.3, in line with the obligations defined by the Law on Navigation and Ports on Inland Waters and the Rulebook on River Information Services.
The charts contain updated information on the waterway, the waterway marking system, depth contours of 3.5 m, 3.0 m, 2.5 m, 2.3 m, 2.0 m and 1.5 m relative to the low navigable level (with data on the time of the hydrographic measurements), marked critical sectors for navigation – stretches of the river where, during periods of low water, the appropriate waterway dimensions necessary for safe navigation are not met, distance markings every 200 m along the waterway axis, cross-sections every 200 m, positions of sunken vessels in or near the waterway or designated anchorages, water-gauge stations, updated information on bridges (with information on the available heights of navigable openings relative to the high navigable level), anchorages, winter harbours, ferry crossings, power lines and other structures significant for the safety of navigation, as well as other information relevant to navigation.
The most important changes in this edition of the chart are the information on available depths relative to the low navigable level, based on hydrographic measurements carried out during 2020, the updated waterway marking system, as well as updated data on water-gauge stations, anchorages, winter harbours and bridges, it was announced on the Plovput website.

New navigation chart of the Sava (km 210.8 – km 0.00)
It contains updated information on the hydrographic measurements of the River Sava carried out in 2020, the position of the waterway, the waterway marking system, the location of critical sectors, winter shelters and anchorages, critical sectors for navigation, distance markings every 200 m along the waterway axis, cross-sections every 200 m, anchorages, infrastructure structures on the waterway (bridges, hydraulic engineering structures), larger settlements along the Sava, water-gauge stations and characteristic navigable levels at the time of publication, as well as contacts of the institutions responsible for inland navigation in the Republic of Serbia. The locations of the construction sites of two new bridges on the River Sava, near Rača and near Šabac, are presented.
The sixth edition of the chart has been prepared in a new format, in line with the changes agreed within the DTP–Danube STREAM project.
